NAGPUR SAHODAYA FACILITATES MATHS WORKSHOP IN CPS KATOL ROAD ON 16th July 2016 |

With the changing times and the even challenging scenario of Mathematics teaching, Centre Point School, Katol Road, hosted the Primary Mathematics teachers workshop under the aegis of Nagpur Sahodaya Schools Complex, on 16th July’16. 109 delegates from in and around Nagpur representing around 60 schools enthusiastically attended the day long workshop.
Dignitaries present on the occasion were Mrs. Radhika Mehra, Chairperson of NSSC and Principal, Centre Point School, Dabha, Mrs. Reena Dargan Vice Chairperson and Principal, Ira International School, Butibori, Mr. Uday Thosar and Principal NEERI Modern School, Mrs. Shilpee Ganguly Principal Centre Point School, Katol Road. The Resource persons for the workshop were Dr. Vivek Wagh, Director Centre for Scientific Learning and Mrs. Archana Jadhav a senior faculty BVM Civil Lines. The programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp and invoking blessings of Goddess Saraswati through a Vandana. The dignitaries and delegates present were welcomed by Richa Mohta, School Captain, Centre Point School, Katol Road.
The first session began with a presentation by Mrs. Vinita Ahuja, a Maths teacher in Centre Point School, Katol Road. She dealt with the topic on Maths phobia and techniques to be used for making Maths a friendly subject in the classrooms. The next session was conducted by Dr. Wagh who spoke at length on the systems of Maths learning and the need of a formal Maths Lab in schools.
The post lunch session focused on simple hands-on activities that can be done using objects available in the classrooms. This was enjoyed keenly by all participants. The last session was conducted by Mrs. Archana Jadhav of BVM Civil lines, Nagpur. She conducted the session on dealing with Common Errors students make and how to overcome them.
Interesting activities during the day kept the participants engaged and they left rejuvenated & determined to raise the joy quotient in Maths in their respective classrooms.
